Notes: Gumby, quite possibly the most famous icon made of clay, was created by Art Clokey. From 1956 to 1988, Gumby starred in 214 total episodes of The Gumby Show and The All-New Gumby. Comedian and Saturday Night Live alum, Eddie Murphy, even portrayed Gumby in earlier episodes of SNL. Gumby's distinctive look was inspired by the gingerbread man and the hairdo of Art Clokey's dad.
